Behind the Blog

Lindsay Mick Watne

I attended Colorado State University where I studied Finance and Real Estate, with an emphasis in Investment Analysis. While in school, I had the opportunity to work for a commercial real estate company, where I got my first experience in the real estate industry. After graduation, I decided to head into the corporate world and take a job as a financial analyst for a large, national homebuilder. There, I was able to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to successfully budget, forecast and run financial reports, and also what goes into running a large, successful real estate company. I quickly realized the corporate world was NOT my thing. After a few years as a financial analyst, I decided to take everything I had learned from my job at a commercial real estate company, and also as a financial analyst and listen to my entrepreneurial spirit, and jump back into the real estate industry as a real estate agent.

I’ve been a licensed real estate agent in Colorado since 2009. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been obsessed with “all things home”. I’ve always loved design and homes, and even considered going to school for interior design. While I truly love helping my clients in their real estate journey, making a house become a home for someone is where my heart is. I love creating a space for someone they love and adore.

There’s so much more to the process than just buying and selling a home. You’re moving to a new home, new neighborhood, new part of town and you need an advocate. Someone in your court, not just someone to sell you a home. Someone who knows the ins and outs of a neighborhood.

Maybe you own your home already, and you’re ready to make those personal touches. Not sure where to start and you need to make your pinterest board come to life. I’m your girl. Whole kitchen remodel? Yes! New paint in the bathroom? Yes! Accent shiplap wall? Yes!

When I’m not around town showing homes and helping people buy, sell, renovate or invest in real estate, I’m spending time with my family. My wonderful husband (high school sweethearts!) is a firefighter and avid outdoorsman. My two beautiful kids are amazing and keep me busy with all their sports and activities. We love exploring all Colorado has to offer from new restaurants, hiking, camping and being outdoors. Travel is a favorite of ours, as well. If you follow me on social media, you know I’m a big fan of coffee shops and of course, trying to find the best skinny vanilla latte in town! Welcome to my website–thanks for stopping by!

Behind the Story

MillerHouse and Co

I have family from Pennsylvania, and we would visit them every summer as kids. Down the street from my grandma’s house, is a mansion, that for most of my childhood, was abandoned. We would walk the grounds and I remember even as a little girl, I would daydream of what the house used to be like, and what it could become.

We so lovingly referred to it as the “Miller house” because my relatives who first built it were the Miller’s. My grandparents would always share stories of this beautiful mansion because it belonged to a distant relative in my family. The mansion went through many chapters; everything from being a home, to a restaurant, to a retirement home community.

My grandparents worked at the mansion as kids, my grandpa was a caddy for the golf course (in the front yard!) and my grandma worked in the restaurant. My uncle and his company had done extensive renovations to the home over the years. I was OBSESSED with the history of this home. Not only was the mansion stunning, but the stories were incredible.

You’re greeted at the front of the property by old iron gates, that lead you down a long, tree-lined street, leading up to the mansion. It was the dreamiest home I had ever known AND it was apart of my family AND it had so much potential.

Fast forward to 2012, and the mansion had finally been sold to someone after years of being vacant. The mansion needed EXTENSIVE work and it needed the right person to tackle it. The woman who purchased the home spent lots of time and money renovating the mansion and really tried to maintain the history. She turned it into a fully operational Bed and Breakfast and it’s gorgeous. The mansion, and owner, were even featured in their own show on the OWN Network.

I’ve had the privilege of staying at the mansion in it’s current state of a bed and breakfast. I can’t wait to get back there. And even one day, maybe, just maybe, own this mansion.

Until then, I’ll keep dreaming. I love the history, the story, and that something truly beautiful came out of the process. Exactly how I see my business.
